Fabrizio Barca updates his book, "Disuguaglianze, conflitto, sviluppo" after a year.

EU/ENG - With this new book, the two co-authors—renowned economist Fabrizio Barca, co-coordinator of the Forum Disuguaglianze e Diversità, and Fulvio Lorefice, PhD in Contemporary History at the University of Bologna—take stock a year after their conversation, also published by Donzelli, "Disuguaglianze, conflitto, sviluppo.

In the first part of the book, available since the end of March, Barca answers Lorefice's questions on a wide range of topics. They range from the Russian-Ukrainian war, which has destabilized international relations, to Europe's current and possible role in the prospect of an alternative to the military conflict between blocs, to the characteristics of the economic, social, and environmental crisis and the dangerous consequences for European democracies.

A second part addresses the Italian situation, the crisis of the Draghi government, the electoral victory and right-wing government, and the defeat and divisions of the left.

The book draws on many of the reflections and proposals of the Forum Disuguaglianze e Diversità, which Barca has led since 2018. It is a useful tool for anyone seeking to analyze the present without ideologies or schematisms, seeking to identify ferments, tensions, and indications of positive responses and best practices.

As is well known, the DD Forum is an original alliance between organized citizens and research. Its goal is to "build spaces for participation in shared policies and public works" and "build consensus and commitment to them" through the documentation and exchange of practices for "public policies and collective actions that reduce inequalities, increase social justice, and the full development of every person."
