EN - In the third week of July, the election of the highest positions in the Parliament and the Commission did not constitute any real surprise, as Roberta Metsola and Ursula von der Leyen were both confirmed in office.

 

 

FR - Au cours de la troisième semaine de juillet, l'élection des plus hautes fonctions du Parlement et de la Commission n'a pas constitué une véritable surprise, puisque Roberta Metsola et Ursula von der Leyen ont toutes deux été confirmées dans leurs fonctions.

Nella terza settimana di luglio, l'elezione delle massime cariche del Parlamento e della Commissione europea non hanno costituto nessuna vera sorpresa, visto che Roberta Metsola e Ursula von der Leyen sono state entrambe confermate in carica.

La presidente maltese, espressione del PPE, ha avuto un ampio consenso. Con 562 voti ha unito dai Conservatori ai Verdi.

Fisiologicamente meno agevole il percorso verso la riconferma per Von der Leyen che, alla fine, ha stretto i ranghi e scegliendo l'appoggio dei Verdi europei alla sua maggioranza “Ursula”, è tornata a ricoprire la massima carica dell'esecutivo europeo assicurandosi 401 voti nell'emiciclo di Strasburgo. Nessun gruppo a destra del suo PPE le ha votato a favore, compreso l'ECR che, chiedendo una sostanziale sconfessione del Green Deal, non ha lasciato scelta alla Von der Leyen indisponibile a rivoluzionare due degli assi, lo sviluppo sostenibile e l'impatto zero delle emissioni, del suo mandato a Bruxelles passato e futuro.
