Consiglio europeo : focus sui rincari delle forniture energetiche

In particular, rising energy prices, with their impact on the real lives of consumers and families in the European Union, dominated the agenda

EU/ENG - At the EU Council of October 21-22, in addition to key issues such as the Polish case and migration, more directly economic dossiers were also addressed. In particular, rising energy prices, with their impact on the real lives of consumers and families in the European Union, dominated the agenda.

The Council approved specific conclusions on energy: "The European Council calls on the Commission and the Council to swiftly consider medium- and long-term measures that contribute to affordable energy prices for households and businesses, increase the resilience of the EU energy system and the internal energy market, ensure security of supply, and support the transition to climate neutrality, taking into account the diversity and specificity of Member States' situations."

The Council also invites "the European Investment Bank to examine how to accelerate investments in the energy transition, within its current capital capacity, in order to reduce future disruption risks and meet Europe's global connectivity ambitions."
